Update From Natural Resources 1135, July 17th, 2026. DNR, Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency, and volunteer fire departments are continuing to respond to the fire on Mooseland Road, Halifax County. The fire has seen significant growth and is now estimated to be 1700 hectares and is out of control. Two DNR helicopters and two fixed-wing water bombers from Newfoundland and New Brunswick have joined with Nova Scotia's four fixed-wing water bombers to participate in the fire suppression effort. Mooseland Road is currently closed near sixth lake. Please avoid the area.
Residents who live in the area covered under the evacuation order, report that the fire appeared to escalate quickly Thursday evening.
According to a Friday morning estimate from the Halifax Regional Municipality, the evacuation order affects between 100-150 people.
As 3pm on Friday, the out-of-control wildfire in Halifax County has grown to roughly 4,200 acres. Teams from Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency and local volunteer firefighters are aggressively battling the raging inferno on Mooseland Road. Emergency officials are telling the public to stay away.
As of 9 a.m. Friday, Nova Scotia Power’s outage map listed 167 customers in the area without electricity. Also it has been reported, there is no text or cellphone service on or in the immediate vicinity of Mooseland Rood.
