Police And Search & Rescue Are Searching
For A Missing Newborn Baby In Halifax
A search is underway in Halifax for a missing newborn baby. On May 22 at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers were notified of a woman in hospital in life-threatening condition who appeared to have just given birth. The baby has not yet been located.
As previously stated in a Halifax Regional Police release, ground search efforts are underway to locate the missing newborn. The Colchester Ground Search and Rescue Association, including Search Dog Rip and handler Susan, along with support staff, are on scene providing assistance.
The baby remains unlocated at this time. Police and Ground Search and Rescue are actively searching the area surrounding 214 Willett Street, Halifax. To enable a comprehensive search, the public is urged to stay away from the area.
Local authorities are urging residents to examine their properties, yards, sheds, and any areas where something unusual may have been left behind.
Four individuals are currently being detained by police and are undergoing questioning, although investigators have confirmed that no charges have been filed at this point.
