USPA NEWS - On September 11 this year, at the request of the self-proclaimed President of Venezuela and US doormat Juan Guaidó, the convening of the Council of the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (Portuguese acronym TIAR) was approved to address the alleged “destabilizing impact, representing a clear threat to the peace and security of the hemisphere “ that would be being carried out by Venezuela.

What does that mean?

It means that the Council can opt for the disruption of diplomatic and economic relations, the air and naval blockade and the possibility of using an armed force against Venezuela.

Among the countries that approved the call is Bolsonaro ́s Brazil. This approval by the Bolsonaro ́s regime runs counter to the Brazilian Constitution which provides for Brazil to be guided, in international relations, by the principles of self- determination of peoples, non-intervention, the defense of peace, the peaceful settlement of conflicts and cooperation among peoples.
With the departure of John Bolton from the Trump administration, the diplomatic channels, rather than the military, were expected to be contemplated in international relations. But, the indicated substitute seems to be worse than Bolton (if that is possible). The replacement nominee is an ultra-conservative war operator named Charles Kupperman who was former President Ronald Reagan's advisor who will carry out imperialism's plans for Venezuela in particular. We must not forget that Trump wants reelection and intervention in Venezuela would give him the votes of the American fascists and conservatives.

The TIAR Council will meet in the second half of September, when it will choose one of the options against Venezuela and among those options is military intervention, war. We must denounce these Machiavellian maneuvers that can lead to war on the South American continent.
