USPA NEWS - The Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam calls on the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, in New Delhi on August 26, 2016.

Bilateral Relationship Was Upgraded To A “strategic partnership“
Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore called on Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on Aug 26.

The Prime Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the people of Singapore on the sad demise of former President S. R. Nathan. The Prime Minister said that Singapore has lost one of its great sons.

Mr. Shanmugaratnam briefed the Prime Minister on the status of various bilateral cooperation initiatives, especially in the areas of Skill Development and Smart Cities.
The Prime Minister recalled his successful visit to Singapore in November 2015, during which the bilateral relationship was upgraded to a “strategic partnership“, and said that he is keenly looking forward to the visit of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to India in the near future.
