6 dead after shooting spree in central Iran

USPA News - At least six people have been killed and five others have been injured after a group of armed robbers went on a shooting spree in central Iran while fleeing from police, state-run television reported on Sunday. Three of the suspects remain at large.
The shootings, which happened on Saturday, began when police attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the city of Khomein, leading to a gun battle with four suspects who are believed to have committed an armed robbery. One police officer was killed in the gun battle and three others were injured, Iranian news channel Press TV reported. After the shootout, the assailants headed for the nearby city of Golpayegan, where they got into a gun battle with security forces which had been deployed to arrest the criminals. Two police officers, including the city`s deputy police chief, along with one of the attackers, were killed in the second shooting. Two other police officers were wounded. The three remaining suspects fled the scene in Golpayegan and traveled to a nearby village where they killed a father and his 17-year-old son, Press TV reported. The suspects remained at large on Sunday and no other details were available. The reports from state-run media did not provide details about the armed robbery.
