Female U.S. teachers arrested for threesome with 16-year-old student

USPA News - Two female teachers from the U.S. state of Louisiana were arrested this week after they allegedly had a threesome with a 16-year-old student last month, police said on Thursday. The women could face a maximum of up to 17 years in prison if convicted.
One of the encounters took place in early September when Shelley Dufresne, a then-31-year-old teacher at Destrehan High School, allegedly had "inappropriate sexual contact" with a 16-year-old student at a residence in Montz in St. Charles Parish, about 24 miles (38 kilometers) west of New Orleans. A second encounter took place on Dufresne`s birthday, September 12, when both Dufresne and 24-year-old Rachel Respess, who is also a teacher, allegedly had sex with the same student at a residence in Kenner, about 13 miles (22 kilometers) east of Montz. The threesome, after a Friday night football game, continued into the early morning of September 13, said Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser. The St. Charles Parish Sheriff`s Office began investigating the allegations on September 26 after officials from the St. Charles Parish Public School District received reports that a male student was bragging to other students that he was having a sexual relationship with teachers. Police are still investigating the reported existence of video footage of the sexual encounters. Dufresne was arrested at 5:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday and released within hours after posting a $10,000 cash bond and a personal surety bond for the remainder of a $200,000 bond on one count of Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. Both Dufresne and Respess surrendered themselves at the Kenner Police Department the next day, on Wednesday, and were later released on a $7,000 bond. In Kenner, both defendants each face one count of Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile, Indecent Behavior with Juveniles and Contributing to the Delinquency of Juveniles. Sergeant Brian McGregor of Kenner Police said that the student involved described the sex as consensual, but state law puts the age of consent at 17. The sexual encounters would have been legal just days after they happened, however, as the student turned 17 soon after and Louisiana - unlike some other jurisdictions - does not place special restrictions on persons in a position of trust and authority.
