Manama plays host to third HH Sheikha Fatima

Ladies World Championship race in 2017

USPA NEWS - The Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, Manama in Bahrain is the place where all the action on Friday, March 17 with three races in the name of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship race being the featured events.
While Bahrain´s best horses will vie for the prestigious His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup races, the large crowd will also witness lady jockeys from around the world compete in the ladies race held as part of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival.
Last year´s winning horse Mlolshaan, a winner under Danish lady jockey Sabina Gammelgaard, is back again and this time will be ridden by Norway´s Silja Storen. The other riders who will be making a determined bid to win and qualify for the November finals are Belgium´s Anna van den Troost on Al Hamdanieh 1644, French jockey Delphine Garcia Dubois on Tuwaisan, Italian Ilaria Saggiomo on Kuheilan Aafas 1675,
Cindy Klinkenberg of The Netherlands on Kuheilan Aafas 1640, Spain´s Beatriz Alonso on Kuheila´T Al Adiyat, Ireland´s Aine Dagg on Al Jellaby, Eva Herresthal of Germany rides Al Hamdanieh 1637 and Great Britain´s Ellie McKenzie will be on Al Ma´anagieh.
The Director General of the General Women's Union, Ms. Noura Al Suwaidi hailed the support to lady jockeys from Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and Head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
“The race will be run over seven furlongs with a cash purse of 15,000 Bahraini Dinars and this is the third race in this series after Oman and Houston,“ said Ms. Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Chairperson of the International Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA), Chairperson of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committees in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR). “Bahrain is a prestigious venue for the HH Sheikha Fatima Ladies race and it will be a great opportunity for the lady jockeys to contest on the race track here and also on a day when some of the biggest races of the Kingdom are being run,“ she added.
